A day of sport for young and old in Tring has been hailed a success by organisers.
More than 300 children turned out to try out a new sport on Sunday, August 24.

Adults also got involved playing activities they hadn't done since school or trying their hand at something completely new.

The event, organised by Tring Sports Forum, which is headed by the town's mayor Mike James, was given an added boost with the success of the Olympics.

Ben Moorhouse from the forum said: "Although the event was planned to coincide with the end of the Olympics, it was never imagined that Team GB would do so brilliantly.

"Parents and children alike came to the sports centre to try some new sport for free. Who knows maybe a potential star of the 2012 Olympics was born."

He said the most popular activities in the gymnasium were table tennis, martial arts and cycling and outside football, cricket and hockey were a hit.

A total of 15 different sports clubs were involved in the event held at Tring Sports Centre in Mortimer Hill.
