Phone lines went down in Tring because of technical problems at the telephone exchange serving the area.

A total of 9,500 lines served by an exchange in High Wycombe were affected on Monday and Tuesday.

Lines first went down on Monday (November 17) at 9.38am. Engineers quickly worked on the problem and the fault was fixed by 10.49am.

However, lines again failed the following day (Tuesday) at 9.11am. They were working again by 10.25am.

Buckingham Road resident Barbara Bailey said: "It seems to be most of Tring has been having trouble with their telephones."

She said businesses in the town were also without phone lines and this meant that card payment machines were not working.

"It's really quite annoying especially for people running businesses," said Mrs Bailey.
