A fundraising bid has been launched to help the family of leukaemia tot Iona Stratton.
Pals of the youngster's parents have teamed up to organised events to support the couple while their daughter recovers from a bone marrow transplant.

Anita Kan and Kevan Stratton, of Charles Street, Tring, are staying close to the hospital in Bris
tol where the 23-month-old is being treated.

It means that Mr Stratton, a self employed electrician, is not working. However, bills are still rolling in and the financial worry is putting added pressure on the pair.

The first fundraising event will be a race night at the Castle pub in Park Road, Tring on Saturday (December 6). The cash will be split between the Stratton family and a leukaemia charity.

The evening will be kicked off at 6.30pm with a sponsored head shave - so far four men have volunteered themselves for the challenge.

Races will start from 8pm and during an hour interval from 9pm a silent auction, with around 40 lots, will be held. Guests can pick up bidding forms this week. Races will resume from 10pm to 11pm.

Lucy Grimes, one of the organisers, said: "It is an open house. The more people that are there, the more money we will raise."

Speaking about the fundraising, Ms Kan, said: "It will take away the financial pressure while Iona is poorly. It will be one less thing to worry about so that we can concentrate on Iona."
