A man was attacked with an axe outside a Tring pub.
It is believed the drinker, aged 29, was set upon as he stepped outside The Bell pub in High Street for a cigarette.

Landlord Stephen Gibbs said the victim suffered a cut to his arm and was taken to hospital.

It is alleged the attack happened last Wednesday (November 19) just after 8pm in the pub's rear car park.

The venue was busy with drinkers where many were watching the England vs Germany football match.

Police and forensic officers were at the scene and the area was cordoned off.

Two men were arrested however, one, a 19-year-old from Berkhamsted was later released.

The other man, a 26-year-old, also from Berkhamsted has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been police bailed until December 12.

The victim has since been released from Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
