The court case surrounding an alleged hit and run in which a cyclist was killed has been adjourned while solicitors examine the evidence.

John Charlton, aged 49, of Chester le Street in County Durham is accused of failing to stop at an accident and driving without due care and attention.

He was due to appear at Watford Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 27) but magistrates agreed to adjourn the case.

Cyclist Jim Loveridge, aged 71, was killed when his bike collided with a car along Wingrave Road in Long Marston near Tring on Sunday, July 6 at around 10.30pm.

The case will return to the same court on Monday, December 15 at 10am when Mr Charlton is expected to submit a plea.
