A brave tot who was battling leukaemia has passed away following a bone marrow transplant.
Complications affected Iona Stratton's breathing and she died in the arms of her parents on Tuesday (December 2).

The 23-month-old underwent a bone marrow transplant after her parents launched an online appeal for a suitable donor through social networking site Facebook.

The 10 out of 10 donor match gave her the best chance of survival but mum Anita Kan said the months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy were too much for her small body.

Ms Kan and Kevan Stratton had been staying with Iona at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The couple have now returned to their home in Charles Street, Tring.

Ms Kan said: "It has been a long battle for her (Iona] and she was very poorly. I think all the radiotherapy and chemotherapy took a toll on her little body.

"She had breathing problems and died in our arms.

"We have got good memories and there is no more suffering for her. We will always have Iona in our hearts.

"People have been very supportive. I think it has shocked a lot of people but we all have to be brave just like she was. She was a very brave little girl."
