Triathlete Sarah Fensome is definitely one of Hertfordshire's sportswomen to watch.

The 28-year-old, of Chiltern Park Avenue, Berkhamsted, has been called up to represent Great Britain at the 2009 European Triathlon Championships in the Netherlands.

It was after a sterling performance at the Steelman qualifiers at Dorney Lake in July that Sarah received the call. She completed the race in 2h 33m, running 10km in 39m 55s seconds, making her the fastest female runner there.

"At one point towards the end i thought to myself 'oh no, are my legs going to hold out?'" she admitted. "I was throwing water all over myself, just trying to keep going!'"

By day, Sarah is a practicing sports massage therapist but has always wanted to reach the highest level that she can in sport.

She has been running since the age of nine, but revealed that it wasn't so easy for her to adapt to the cycling aspect of the event.

"This is my second season as a triathlete," she added. "When i started out i had really 'interesting' bike skills so i had to practice and train really hard on my friend's bike."

"Now I just want to achieve the best I can as a triathlete."
