Bus stop sign causes confusion

A motorist who decided to be green and leave the car at home waited more than an hour for a bus that never arrived.
David King stood next to a bus stop sign advertising the Adeyfield service at Hemel Hempstead Bus Station in Waterhouse Street for an hour-and-a-half.
But when he asked the station's information centre, where the Number one bus was he was told that it no longer stops there.
He said: "They said it hadn't run there for around a month. It is now running from Bridge Street.
"I just wish I had taken my car now. I was trying to be green."
The Eastbrook Way resident does not usually take the bus but decided to leave the car at home last Friday (August 15) and get a lift with a colleague.
However, on his journey home he ran into difficulty.
After being informed of the route change he walked to nearby Bridge Street where he said the quarter past the hour service did not turn up and the quarter to bus arrived ten minutes late.
A spokesman for Herts County Council, which is responsible for bus stop signs, said: "Unfortunately in the process of the change-over of the route, which is run commercially by Arriva, replacing the bus stop signs has been overlooked.
"The timetables at the stops that the route serves have been updated but it is understandable that passengers may not check timetables if they are not aware of changes to routes.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will be getting the signs updated as soon as we can to ensure that route information is correct."
An Arriva spokesman said the route was changed in July following a review of services.
