Painter Mitzie Green has become the first artist ever to scoop both of the top two awards at the St Albans Art Society Exhibition.
She was awarded the First Prize for 'Best in Show' and the coveted 'Challenge Trophy' by the Chairman of the Art Society Mary Newbury at the opening ceremony on, Thursday 31st July

Mitzie said:" I am honoured and delighted to have won the double award. This is one of my favourite exhibitions and I wish it every success in 2008."

Mitzie is an artist, from Berkhamsted, who will open her home to members of the public during the Hertfordshire Open Studios event from September 13 to October 5.

She will be displaying a collection of 150 pieces of her work, which includes a number of townscapes, abstract and still life works.

It will be a wonderful opportunity for visitors to learn how Mitzie creates her pieces and has developed her techniques in using texture as she will demonstrations while exhibiting.

Mitzie trained at St Albans College of Art, which is now the University of Hertfordshire, where she obtained her degree in painting and print-making in 1996.

Since then she has become a professional painter, specializing in landscapes, townscapes and flowers and is a frequent exhibitor in local galleries and exhibitions.
