New theatre programme

Plan ahead to get your tickets for the next season's shows at the Maltings Arts Theatre, which is kicking off with a celebration of the theatre's 20th birthday.

The official season launch takes place on Wednesday, September 17 with Badapple's An Honorary Yorkshireman, but the new programme and tickets will be available from Monday, August 4.

The theatre and comedy season will get underway with Romeo and Juliet, from local company Shooting Stars, on September 4 and 5.
Two other local professional companies stage are to world premieres during the season.

Gagged Theatre's cross-generational odyssey You Are Here will launch on September 19 while El Toro's break-up drama Lovedrunk will be on in November.

Some shows have been chosen to reflect the National Curriculum, including Guy Masterson and Gary Shelford's Animal Farm, on October 9 and Miracle Theatre's The Taming Of The Shrew, on October 10.

Other highlights include musician Preston Reed on September 20, comic Western Spittoon on October 2 and popular band Chumbawamba on October 15.
